OPEN CALL for artworks and project proposals

For the exhibition „Approaches to Happiness“ (working title)

In the framework of the festival “Days of Happiness” organized by the Credo Bonum Foundation (Sofia) and the Art Today Association/Center for Contemporary Art – Plovdiv

Days of Happiness is the first of its kind project in Eastern Europe that combines a series of seminars, talks, contemporary art and documentary movie screenings exploring this state of mind all human beings are pursuing. The event comes at a time when, according to an UN report, Bulgaria is one of the unhappiest countries in the world.
Besides the program in Sofia, there will be an interdisciplinary one in Plovdiv consisting of an exhibition and interactive educational events. It will be presented in June 2013 in The Ancient Bath, a historic Muslim monument used by the CCA-Plovdiv as its exhibition space.

You can apply either with a project proposal to be realized by you or the CCA, or with an already prepared work within the following categories:

- video art
- photography
- installation/intervention interacting with the exhibition visitors
- installation/intervention in a public space interacting with the citizens of Plovdiv or another city
- artistic research on the topic of happiness in Plovdiv or another city

Conditions of applying:

- All submissions have to include a short concept, visual material of the work/proposal and the artist’s CV
- Project proposals have to include a cost calculation and a schedule of realization ending at the latest on 15 June.
- For project proposals, which are to be realized in Plovdiv and by the artist himself, European artists get prioritized.
- Video works have to be submitted by vimeo, wetransfer or any other option of streaming or downloading online.
