VIDEOART CALL: JOUR DE FÊTE

The Private Space Gallery opens a call for artists from all over the world, focused on video-art projects. The subject – Jour de fête – refers to the idea of festivity and celebration, both widely understood. This concept invites the artists to explore the social and collective expression of the celebration from many possible points of view, the symbols of power related to social rituals, the construction of  a collective identity, as well as the family environment and the concept of tradition and ceremony.

The selected works will take part in the video-art exhibition Jour de fête, which will take place at  The Private Space Gallery (Barcelona) in May 2011, in the context of the International Video-art Festival Loop (www.loop-barcelona.com). Alexandra Laudo [Heroínas de la Cultura] and Pedro Torres will be in charge of the selection of the works and the curatorship.

PARTICIPANTS
All the artists or artists collective interested are welcome to participate, regardless of their nationality, residence or age, so long as they present video-art proposals on the theme  Jour de Fête.

SUBMISSION
To submit your work follow the instructions detailed in the attached entry form, which can be downloaded from the web page of The Private Space (www.theprivatespacebcn.com). Each author or collective can submit a maximun of 3 art works. The duration of each video cannot exceed 15 minutes.

DEADLINE
The call closes on February 13th 2011 (submissions will be accepted during the next week after the deadline if they have been sent before it).
