New opportunities for artists

The Fifth Edition of the International Prize "Arte Laguna", organized by the Cultural Association MoCA and the Arte Laguna Office, under the aegis of, among others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Veneto Region, European Institute of Design, this year it presents many news - including two new sections of the competition, a jury entirely renewed composed by important personalities from national and international art field, the role of the Curator of the Prize – and it confirms its commitment to facilitate the meeting and comparison among critics, professionals and artists, as well as the promotion of the young emerging art.

The total prizes offered by the Prize - whose the new call started in July – is about  100.000 euros. Besides the Institutional Prizes – about 5.000 euro for each prize, one for each sections, Painting, Sculpture, Photographic Art, Video art and Performance – more numerous are for 2010, the Special Prizes that give the possibility to participate in an artist's residence or to attend events in Italy and abroad, dealing with business realities outside the art world, as the growth of their artistic experience as well the their professional development. Arte Laguna continues in this way to support emerging talents not only in a economic way, but also accompanying the education and development of their creativity.

The Special Prizes "Artist in Residence" provide three different artist residencies, conceived in collaboration with Italian and foreign realities: the Special Prize "Art Stays" - connected with the International Festival of Contemporary Art “Art Stays”, one of the main events dedicated to visual arts held every year in Slovenia - offers a residence of seven days; the Special Prize "Carlo Zauli" Museum that houses for a month an artist chosen from the sculpture section and involving him in activities related to ceramics making and to the Museum of Faenza - project partner - for all the stay long; the Special Prize “Caludio Buziol” Foundation conceived thanks to the cooperation with the firm “Il Granaio delle Idee”, the owner, Federico Allamprese Manes Rossi, all along engaged in the art and culture world, sponsors the artist's residence for a period of three months hosted by this Foundation in Venice.

In the exchanges and dialogue perspective between the business and the contemporary art it was created the Special Prize "ReiL" sponsored by ReiL Firm partner of Arte Laguna, which offers to an artist, selected among all the participants in the painting and sculpture sections, a thirty-day stay in Brazil to create a site specific project in one of the residential houses of Bahia.

Thanks to the "Personal Exhibitions" and "Collective Exhibitions" Special Prizes Arte Laguna gives also the possibility of exhibiting works in private art galleries partners of the project - a foundamental network for the promotion of artists, composed by more than 30 Italian and foreign galleries including Rome, Budapest, New York, Las Vegas - and in two important exhibitions of contemporary art. The "Festival Tina B” in Prague, with this collaboration was born the Special Prize that will present in Prague, Vicenza, Danzig, for the 2011 Festival, the video of a selected performance; and the fourteenth edition of OPEN International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations in Venice, created and curated by Paolo De Grandis and co-curated by Carlotta Scarpa, here it will be exhibit the works of the two finalists of Section Sculpture Prize Arte Laguna 2010, selected for the Special Prize "OPEN".

One more interesting news on the Prize 2010 it is the Press Award which involves the jury coposed by seven major journalists of the sector - Daniele Capra (Exibart), Elisa Delle Noci (Artkey/Teknemedia), Lorella Pagnucco Salvemini (Arte In), Cristiano Seganfreddo (Innov(e)tion Valley), Chiara Somajni (Il Sole 24 Ore), Gloria Vallese (Arte), Maurizio Zuccari (Insideart) - for choosing among the finalists an artist to assign its reference to merit.
